Jerry Sweeney founded Cork Internet eXchange (CIX), a privately owned by EU nationals. CIXs located exclusively within Ireland, 33 years ago. CIX has an integrated, agile technology stack from which to build IT systems that can create competitive advantage for our clients. We group the technologies from which we build client IT systems into five layers. Each layer progressively building on the capabilities of the layers below. We work to craft a solution to meet each client’s specific strategy from this five layer technology stack.

Chris has recently joined Aqua Comms as Chief Commercial Officer, bringing with him more than 25 years’ experience in the Telecoms industry working predominantly in the submarine cable business as well as with service providers, network and component manufacturers and most recently with a major global terrestrial network operator. His experience covers both working internationally including running the Middle East and Africa business for Global Cloud Xchange (formerly FLAG Telecom and Reliance Globalcom) and successfully working in senior management roles across multiple functions including Sales, Marketing, Pricing, Finance and Business Development. As an experienced member of executive leadership teams and as a Chartered Management Accountant, Chris has successfully delivered on complex and varied business plans in both mature and emerging markets.

Adrian is an Electrical Engineer working as Sen. Project Manager at Securiton Ltd. in Switzerland. He has been actively involved in the specification of fire detectors capable of supporting Early Warning Systems for protecting mission critical installations in various industries.

David is responsible for managing commercial relationships in the Nordic and Baltic regions and other territories. Prior to joining the Uptime Institute, David worked at Savvis (now Centurylink) in a specialist colocation sales role and was Sales Manager at Interxion in London.


Dr Theresa (Terri) Simpkin is the Higher and Further Education Principal at CNet Training the Program Leader and co-author of the worlds’ and only Master’s Degree in Data Centre Leadership and Management.
Terri has enjoyed a successful career which spans academic leadership at Anglia Ruskin University, general management and human resources management in the private sector. She has worked with SMEs, large corporate clients, industry associations and government agencies in Australia for over a decade, managing complexity and designing business wide, integrated change interventions is a particular professional interest and capability.
Terri holds qualifications in business management and degrees in both Human Resources Management and Commerce. Her current areas of academic interest are the business implications of the second machine age, gender issues in the Data Centre sector and emerging leadership paradigms. She is a chartered member of the CIPD and AHRI, a member of the Infrastructure Masons and a Churchill Fellow.


The Global Data Centre Partnership is a group of independent, carrier-rich, and customer-focused data centres, working alongside a professional services technology company to offer a better choice of facilities supporting a single or multi-site strategy – locally and globally. Colin Woods has over 17 years’ experience in delivering complex Technology services primarily around Data Centre, Cloud and IaaS, but also telecommunications and Internet traffic management. He has held senior sales roles in TelecityGroup (now Equinix), Internap, Volta Data Centres and most recently PSTG where he runs the GDCP (Global Data Centre Partnership) to help businesses transition into Data Centres and Cloud environments.
